Ugh!

I can't believe it has been over a month since I last posted! Where does the time go?? Okay, so let's try to have a quick update.....

John and I both had our 27th birthdays at the end of April/beginning of May. YAY!! We had dinner with some friends for mine and it was really nice. I also celebrated my 5 year "anniversary" of being diagnosed with lupus. While it is not something that I really celebrated, unless you count my visit to the rheumatologist, it is amazing to look back and see how much things have changed. During this pregnancy, and even to an extent before the pregnancy, the lupus has been under control. I feel so blessed and I know that God is at work as we speak, healing my body.

Sometime after that, we found out about our new job!! John is going to be a head pastor at a small church in South Georgia, between Macon and Savannah. We are really excited about the opportunity God has placed before us. The people at the church have been so nice and supportive and we can't wait to meet them! More details about this to come!

John also graduated from Seminary on the 23rd of May. I am SO proud of him. Seminary is hard (trust me, I should know!) and completing your Masters of Divinity is a HUGE accomplishment!! So know we will have matching masters degrees to put on our wall.

Baby Joshua continues to grow grow grow!! At our last ultrasound on May 20th, (we get one once a month since I am high risk) he weighed 3 lbs and 4 oz. The doctors say he looks great and are really pleased with how everything is progressing. I am now 31 weeks (on Sunday), which is both exciting and terrifying! Only nine weeks till our due date and a LOT has to happen before then!!

We are in the midst of packing up the house for the move and it is not fun! Thankfully my mom came up for John's graduation and packed 56 boxes herself. She is awesome!! I don't know what we would do without her!

Well, I hope to post again soon with more information about our move!

Take Care!

26 Weeks

Today is the 26th of April and I also hit the 26 weeks mark in my pregnancy! Sometimes it seems like time has gone so fast and other times it feels like August is SO far away!! I can't wait to see my little boy but a lot has to happen before he gets here!!

John's birthday is on Wednesday so yesterday we went to a Cincinnati Reds game against the Braves. John is a HUGE Braves fan and a HUGE baseball fan so it was a great day for him! We actually had really nice weather and it was a great game. And this was the first of many sporting events that Joshua will get to attend!! I hope he likes sports!

Today has been a slow Sunday. I'm trying to get stuff packed up, the house clean, and baby stuff organized before we move. We still are not sure where we are going but should know sometime next week!!! I'll try to post again soon!! Below is a picture of our view from the game!!

This and That

Hi Friends!

I have been SO horrible about posting on here!! I promise that I am going to try to be better. Things have been really crazy lately so I am going to use that as my excuse!! LOL!

John and I were in Texas for Easter and it was great! I had a baby shower while I was there. It was so nice to see family and friends and we got some great things for Joshua!

Yes, we are having a boy and his name is Joshua William. His first name is a name that I really feel like God led us to. As soon as we found out we were pregnant, I prayed that God would give us a name for the child and God gave us the name Joshua. Joshua is actually one of my favorite characters in the Bible so it works out well!! William is also John's middle name, his dad's middle name, his grandfather's middle name, and his other grandfather's first name. So we've got the family traditions covered!!

So far, Joshua is doing great! I go to the doctor a lot because I am high risk (lupus) but I don't mind because we get constant reassurance that Joshua is healthy. I'm 25 weeks (almost 26) and Joshua now weighs 1 lb and 14 oz. I think he's going to be a big boy!

So that's what's happening on the baby front! I'll update about other areas soon......I promise!!! :)

It's a BOY!!

I know I haven't posted in forever! I'm very sorry but I've been waiting for the right time to tell my exciting news. By now, everyone knows, or should know, that John and I are having a baby and it's a boy! We are so excited! I'm 20 weeks and I will keep y'all updated with how things go. Here is a picture of the 3D ultrasound from week 18.

SICK!

Things have been busy here in Wilmore since my last post. I don't think I can remember everything but here is a quick recap.

John and I spent Thanksgiving in Georgia with his family. We had a nice time and I got a new car! My old car "Blue" was beyond repair so we sold it. The new car is a 2008 Toyota 4-Runner that is *surprise* blue! I love it! We are calling it "Blue Two" or "B2" for short.

This week I have had a horrible stomach virus. I threw up over 15 times on Wednesday. It was horrible. I am still not back to normal and now John is sick! So the house has been repeatedly sprayed with Lysol and everything is being washed. Apparently this virus is going around the area.

This Saturday is Christmas in Wilmore and I really want to go but it will all depend on how I feel and how cold it is. It didn't get above freezing today. It is going to be a LONG winter. Thankfully we will be in Texas soon and then Georgia and then back to Texas. YAY for Christmas vacation. I will try to write before then!! :)

Election Night

As I sit here and type this, I have tears streaming down my face. I just watched Obama's acceptance speech. And I don't care what political party you are, tonight is an amazing step in America's history. I am really just in awe and am at a loss for words. One perosn can make a difference and hope never fails. Even if you didn't vote for Obama, it is time to move forward together and make this country even better than it is!

God Bless America!

"But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the promised land. And I'm happy, tonight. I'm not worried about anything. I'm not fearing any man. Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord." ~MLK

Sleep, Lupus, and Marriage

I can't sleep and haven't been able to for the last five or so nights. It is slowly driving me crazy! It seems that I can only sleep in the mornings like from 5 am on. But I have sweet Lily to keep me company so it isn't all bad.

Tonight, during my wonderful insomnia, I found this lovely article about lupus and marriage. (http://blog.oup.com/2007/10/lupus/) Basically, it says that within five years of a lupus diagnosis nearly half of the married women are divorced. I will hit the five year mark on May 5, 2009, so not to far off. It is weird to think I have been dealing with this disease for almost that long. I think I should throw myself a Lupus Party. Y'all are all invited!! :)

But on a more serious note, I am not particularly worried about John leaving me because of the lupus for a couple reasons. First, he knew all about this going in to the marriage. This wasn't a surprise. Second, we made a commitment to God to be with each other through better or worse, in sickness and in health. We both take that commitment very seriously. And finally, John isn't the kind of guy to just give up because things are rough. He loves me and he will always be there for me. After all, he was voted "Most Dependable" in high school. He is just that kind of guy!

I thank God everyday that I have such a sweet and wonderful husband. He is the best! I also thank God for my precious pup Lily who is sleeping on the couch next to me right now. She might try to bite me when I brush her but she'll keep me company whenever I need it.
